How well your tattoo holds up
depends on the care and treatment your tattoo receives
within the first few days.
1) After 2-4 hours
remove the bandage and wash immediately with warm water
and soap. Pat dry and apply a small amount of A+D
ointment.
2) Use A+D ointment for
the first 2–3 days. Apply a small thin layer over the
tattoo every 2-3 hours or about 5-6 times per day. It is
important to keep the tattoo protected and moisturized
at all times for proper healing.
3) Switch to a
moisturizer after the 2-3 day period. Use a fragrance
free lotion such as Curel or Lubriderm. Again apply a
thin layer to the tattoo keeping it moisturized at all
times. Use the moisturizer for 2 weeks.
4) Wash your tattoo 3
times a day, generally, morning, noon, and night, for
the first 7-10 days.
5) After 2 weeks stop
using any ointment or moisturizer for 3-4 days. Allow
sufficient time for the tattoo to dry out.
6) After the tattoo
dries out you may use a moisturizer as needed. Tattoos
take about 4-6 weeks to be completely healed.
