TATTOO AFTERCARE

Option 1: Saniderm/"Second Skin" Aftercare

Initial Application
•Your artist will apply a clear adhesive bandage immediately after tattooing.
•Leave bandage on for 4 days (96hrs), or as directed by your artist
Removing Saniderm
•Gently peel off Saniderm under warm running water to loosen the adhesive, then gently wash the tattoo with your hands using fragrance-free soap & warm water.
•Pat dry with a clean paper towel.

*We recommend Dial Gold liquid soap or Johnson's Baby Shampoo
Wash your tattoo 3 times a day
For the first 7–10 days after Saniderm removal, using warm water and mild, fragrance-free soap. Pat dry gently.
•Wash additonally as needed any time tattoo may be dirty, sweaty, etc.
Post-Saniderm Care
•When your tattoo dries out and begins to itch, you may start moisturizing with a fragrance-free lotion like unscented Lubriderm®.
•Apply a thin layer of lotion to moisturize the tattoo
•Always rinse off old lotion before applying a new layer to avoid build-up.
AVOID
Do not submerge your tattoo in water during the healing process, this means: no pools, hot tubs, lakes, oceans, etc.
•Do not wrap or cover your tattoo or reapply any type of bandage unless directed by your artist
•Avoid long, hot showers
•Avoid direct sunlight on your fresh tattoo.  Wear loose clothing and let the tattoo breathe.
•Avoid friction with clothing and strenious activities, too much motion can negatively affect your tattoo healing
Do not use any ointments or petroleum based products on your tattoo, this includes: A&D, Aquaphor,  etc
Healing takes approx. 2-3 weeks
After your tattoo is fully healed, you may go back to your normal life, but avoid tanning and use sunblock to protect that tattoo through it's aging process.

Option 2: Traditional Aftercare (No Saniderm)

After 3 – 4 hours
•Remove the bandage and wash the tattoo immediately with warm water and mild, fragrance-free soap using just your hands (no washcloth).
•Pat dry gently with a clean paper towel, do not re-bandage your tattoo
The First 3 Days
•During this time your tattoo is an open wound and at most risk of infection.  The most important thing during this phase is to KEEP THE TATTOO CLEAN!
Wash your tattoo 3 times a day
•Wash tattoo using warm water and mild, fragrance-free soap. Pat dry gently.
•Do not apply lotion or ointment unless directed by your artist.

*We recommend Dial Gold liquid soap or Johnson's Baby Shampoo
Switch to a moisturizer after the 3 day period
•Use a fragrance-free lotion such as unscented Lubriderm® whenever your tattoo becomes itchy and dry.
•Apply a thin layer of lotion to moisturize the tattoo
•Always rinse off old lotion before applying a new layer to avoid build-up.
